Friday's Letters

Dear Friday,
Man, am I worn out? Seaworld camp is so tiring and yet, so fulfilling. It was such an excellent time to spend with my oldest little lovebug.

Dear love,
Thank you for working so hard this week. I know this is your busiest time of the year and you are doing super! You have been a trooper while I lie around on the couch for a quick snooze, wiped out from the day's events. PS Thanks for cleaning up tonight too!

Dear my "I will always think of you as little, almost grown-up" Abigail,
Thank you for your ever so dependent care of my children when I am in need. I know you enjoy every minute of it, but to be so selfless when others ask for your help, that is a true hero!

Dear Ashley R., (Yes, I AM linking your blog so you want to update yo)...
My ever-so-aging sister! You are so old today, I say in my sarcastic/valley girl voice, because I totally wouldn't say that if you were old...or would I? You will always get things that most will never understand about me. You will always take my side in your heart when others are against me. I will always remember the best wedding toast ever that brought both of us to sobbing tears. I will always remember being there for the birth of your two amazing daughters. You will always be an example to me and anyone who takes in your bright shining beauty and optimism. You will always be my little sister. I love you and Happy Birthday AsherBasher 504!

Friday's Letters2012
Dear Olivery Rapesedi (my firstborn),
This week you have grown inside. Your little spirit matured a bit as you watched older campers trample around SeaWorld. You got your first official girlfriend, or so you talk about with your eyes when you see her. You loved holding her hand and trying to predict her every move. I loved that you showed a piece of your love to someone else, but I was a little jealous when I thought about my future. {I better work on that now}. I love that you love nature and science and animals. I am SO proud of every little move you make. I love you Oliver!

Dear Calvino (2nd son),
I have missed you this week. Really, you go to sleep for a long nap each day I got home this week and I barely got to see your smiling face. I can't wait for tomorrow, when I will see you all day. I know you have missed us too, we can tell with your sweet greeting! I love you Calvin!

Friday's Letters2012

Dear "Tropical" Storm Debbie,
You know, I waited almost 2 months to go to SeaWorld Camp and you had to show up at our doorstep this week? C'mon! You convinced me that it wouldn't be so bad, so we braved it and felt a bit out of sorts wondering what we could have done different, if anything? I am so glad you are gone and out of our life. Good riddance to ya!

Link up with Ashley and many others today! I love it! Check her lovely, inspiring blog out too! Comment below with your blog so I can check out your letters.

Thankful Thursday

This week, there are so many things to the thankful for. Sometimes, late at night, while waiting for a load of laundry to change over or grading assignments, I wander over to LDS.Org. Along the way, I find that my heart is softened, my perspective changed. So many things of the world can distract me from what matters most, (even a blog that is centered around it!) So today my list is short, but vague.

1. My testimony of Jesus Christ.
2. My family, all members.
3. All the things that fill my life up with wonder and beauty.

What are you thankful for? Happy Thursday.

Sometimes & Always #6

Sometimes: I try to comment on blogs and it has Captcha.
Always: I get super annoyed and question if I REALLY want to leave that comment.

Rodeo March 2012

Sometimes: I get on a really bad schedule consisting of getting to bed around 2AM.
Always: I totally regret it and can't stay away from it! AHHH.

Sometimes: The missionaries come over.
Always: They make my entire day better by changing my perspective.

Rodeo March 2012

Sometimes: I am really great at getting organized and my house put "back together."
Always: It usually takes a string of unannounced visitors to get me in the mood to accomplish just that.

Sometimes: Wasps and other weird wasp-look-alike creatures make their way into my car.
Always: I completely freak out and possibly endanger my life in the process to avoid a dreaded sting!! (Our poor baby was stung 3x Friday =(. He is such a tough little guy)

Hello Bloggers! I am totally late, but for a good reason. We are celebrating my son's recent birthday with a Seafari Camp at Seaworld. He loves it so far, but boy it wore me out today. Not to mention, there was a tropical storm going on...so we were NOT dry when we got home this afternoon. I don't think Oliver would have it any other way. Here is the latest view from our fish tank. You can see our cute little blennies. It is so peaceful to watch them throughout the day, carrying on with their daily routines. It keeps me grateful for things bigger than I. It is solemn. Check it out. More pictures to come! Enjoy...

Friday's Letters

Dear Ashley,
I seriously look forward to Friday letters because I just LOVE Fridays and I love reviewing my week/looking forward to the weekend. Thank you for throwing such an AWEsome party.

Dear Summer,
You have been good to me, but I have neglected to make many appearances in my cute new swimsuit! I need to get on it!

Dear Best Buy,
I hate you.

Dear No Bake Cookies,
You are delicious and I can't resist you. The reasons for making you versus not making you led me to making you last night and we are not regretting it!

Dear Oliver,
I love that you fell asleep on the way home last night and stayed asleep slouched on the couch until I could get you into your pajamies. Your speech is taking off like a jet plane and I can't help but think that you are growing too fast. I cried last week while looking through your baby pictures, knowing that those days have past.

A Rodeo 3-12
Dear Country Song, "You're Gonna Miss This,"
Why are you so right? Gosh! I am already missing it and crazy at the same time.

Dear Calvin,
Your fiery red hair leads almost every passerby to comment about your good looks. That smile and those dimples make heads turn. I love you.

Dear love,
I know you think I am addicted to blogging, but I think you are too! I catch you reading my blog and commenting on my comments. Just do a guest post already! The ladies would LOVE it!

Dear Readers,
I feel like I am Carrie Underwood thanking my fans after a concert or in an interview, but from the bottom of my heart, Thank you. When I am down, you pick me up. When I need dinner ideas or inspiration to be nicer to someone, you are there. I love it! I LOVE BLOGGING! There, that feels better. Now, I will get on getting a giveaway going for 100 followers! Here's to 1000 more... I mean 100. My new goal is 100 more. hahah Thanks.

PS These pictures are from a Rodeo in March. Catching up...I know...I know...Read about it HERE.

Thankful Thursday

Today is another day to be thankful.
  1. I am thankful that my husband is still waiting for me to finish blogging before he drifts off to sleep.
  2.  I am thankful that I stepped on a piece of glass and it didn't go ALL the way through my foot, pierced it good enough to remind me that I have feet to walk on.
  3. I am thankful that summer brings my favorite flowers, the above picture succulents. That is my NEW, fancy Facebook cover! Do you like? If so, like my page =)
  4. I am thankful that blogging is something I can improve daily and that so many of you are willing to share your tips and tricks.
  5. I am thankful for the beautiful fish that my man brought home for our tank! I will post more tomorrow! They really are amazing to watch.
  6. I am thankful for my family.
  7. I am thankful.

Sometimes & Always #5

A Day In March 2012
Sometimes: I hear my little boy singing a self-composed song.
Always: I stop to listen with a smile and think about what life has in store for him.
Sometimes: I procrastinate work.
Always: I make up for it by working 6 hours straight into the next morning.
Sometimes: I wish Friday would be here sooner.
Always: I realize I need to just stop SPENDING.
Sometimes: I hear a song or see a picture and my mind is flooded with memories from that time period.
Always: I spend so much time side-tracked on that topic because it's nice to live in the past sometimes.
Sometimes: I feel like my blog friends are more real than my facebook friends.
Always: I realize they are!
Sometimes: I think about next semester and get anxious.
Always: I can't wait to get started teaching 2 new subjects and the most classes in one semester I have taught to date!

Westlife, "More Than Words" Music Muse Tues

Have you ever heard of Westlife? They are a hit in Europe, but didn't last long in the states. They are also having their last concert ever on June 23rd. Thanks to Spotify, I was able to re-discover some of my favorites! This song has been in my head all over the house this week. Enjoy, "More Than Words." As you can tell, I'm a sucker for some good harmonizing.

Father's Day 2012

So, last year I made the world's longest picture/video montage of Jason's fatherhood. It was raw, and emotional. As I was searching for a video to post for Video Monday, I came upon our beloved "movie" from last year. It was a fresh look at how far we've come, how much we've learned, a bit of a reality check. With each picture, a different emotion was sparked in my heart, a different set of memories recalled. I was left with a feeling to do better, to be better than I was, than I am.

It's simple to come up with a list of perfect qualities my husband has as a father. He sets such an example to all and seemingly these perfect traits come so natural to him. Oliver picked out daddy's gift this year! I hope your Father's Day was well spent, with those you love.

This was a piece of the gift to grandpa who is far away. Check out our video for Video Monday and link up if you have a video to share. Until tomorrow...

Best Cake Ever!

Martha has done it again! This time, it is the most reliable chocolate cake I have ever had. It is so moist and even better refrigerated the next day. I ALWAYS use this recipe from the intellects over at Martha Stewart and it works like a charm every time!

This year, Oliver requested chocolate so I couldn't wait to whip out this recipe. He also repeated over and over that he wanted Cookie Monster involved. I wasn't sure how to do this and honestly waited until a couple of minutes before decorating to decide. With the help of my sisters, I pulled it off quite nicely I believe. Check out the pics! The cupcakes for nursery at church, since his birthday landed on a Sunday this year. I used a box to make those, but the kids didn't mind.

I am sharing this information directly from her site via this link:

Baking an easy chocolate dessert like this chocolate cake can be almost as thrilling for a birthday girl or boy as blowing out the candles that go on top.

Tools and Materials
  • Two 8-by-2 inch round cake pans
  • Parchment paper
  • Flour sifter
  • Electric mixer and bowl
  • Rubber spatula
  • Long serrated knife
  1. Prep Time 40 minutes
  2. Total Time 2 hours 55 minutes
  3. Yield Makes one 8-inch two-layer cake

  • 1 1/2 cups unsweetened cocoa powder, plus more for dusting
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking soda
  • 3/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 cups buttermilk
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 1/2 cups hot water
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter cake pans. Line bottoms with parchment paper, and butter paper. Dust the pans with cocoa; tap out extra.
  2. Sift cocoa, flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and sugar into bowl. Beat in oil, buttermilk, vanilla, eggs, and hot water one at a time, using a mixer set at low. Beat until smooth, about 2 minutes.
  3. Pour batter into pans. Bake 45 to 55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the centers comes out clean; an adult should rotate the pans halfway through and remove cakes from the oven.
  4. Let cakes cool in pans on wire racks, 20 minutes, before inverting to remove. Discard paper. Cool completely on racks, top side up. An adult should cut off top of one layer.
  5. With a butter knife, frost top of trimmed layer.
  6. Place the other layer on top. Frost top and sides of cake.

Friday's Letters

Dear fingers,
Stop aligning yourselves incorrectly on the keyboard when I am trying to type fast. It is annoying when everything comes out like this: osihfsk asodfhsdfh asdfhasdhfk.

Dear life,
I am FRUSTRATED! Why all the road blocks? I am trying. Doesn't that count? Stop being so annoying.

Dear blog readers,
You are awesome if you are reading this. I am sorry I am being negative today, but it was absolutely horrible (composing this Thursday evening).

Dear husband,
Please stop waiting for my keen sense of smell before sharing that I may not want to inhale at that moment. And, I love you.

Dear children,
Please be patient with your crazy mommy.

Dear Lucy (the dog),
You really hurt me when you dug your toenails into my heal. I have a bruise and cut. You will never be aware of this, so I thought I would complain.

Dear next week,
Please be better to me. Please. I am begging you.

Dear jobs,
I love you. Both of you. I love that I can separate you. I love that each of you challenge me. I love you.

Dear Best Buy,
You may be the Best (as in the cheapest) Buy, but you certainly are not the best in anything else. Get with it. Hire some individuals that WANT to work for you and do the BEST at their job. Oh, and maybe someone who is competent to complete a task, like assigning the correct name and address on a mobile account. Give your employees better incentives, I don't know! You need to fix it. I am tired of you. I can't wait until our contract is up! The End.
